ok, i know that we barely have any information on this subject but i was wondering if anyone knows or has any guesses if u can use your HoM in gw2 with a different named character. the fact that it is not account based hints that we will have to use the same names(since it is reserved) but what do you all think? i really hope we can use a different name and inheret our HoM still

Still remains unknown. We know little more then that HoM unlocks some stuff for GW2 that won't give GW1 players any unfair advantage and that our names can be reserved.

since you won't play your old char (which is dead by the time GW2 starts) i don't think you will need your old name.

I read this somewhere, but it may not have been "official", so don't hold me to it:

If you add GW2 to your existing GW account, you will have the option to link a new character to one of your GW HoMs.

I don't think it matters what the name of the new character is, nor does it matter which HoM you link. If you have, for example, 4 GW characters with an HoM each, you could link 4 new GW2 characters to each of them - 1 per character.

I'd like to know more about the "reserved" name thing. If all the character names from GW are reserved in GW2, you're going to have a lot of "XXx Uber Special Name xXX" type names in GW2.

Wouldn't matter, though I do plan to have the last name Cervantes since that's how it is with all my characters.

Cannot decide if i want to keep my main chars name, Kerwyn Nasilan, or use some other name with nasilan. But If we did need to maintain the names I would not care.

For your GW2 account, the HoM-stuff is unlocked and your GW1 name is reserved.

As far as i know A-net or games, this is the answer to your question

. the profession/name thing is simply too many coding, they won't bother

rawr i dont want to use my current name in gw2 as well since in gw2 i will most likely only have 1-2 characters and as of now all 10 of my character names are profession specific. =(
